Imagine the scene; you need to buy an outfit for a girl’s night out but work is too hectic or the kids are too hyperactive for you to get to the shops. You need to find something online but you’re too tired to browse dozens of websites to find something. Been there before? I have, and I’ve invariably bought something I don’t really like much just to save time. It usually arrives in the wrong size too. A new website, Dressipi.com aims to make shopping easier by picking out clothes you may like based on your body shape, tastes, and personality acting as your own virtual stylist.
The website is so quick and easy to set up. Go to dressipi.com and register with a valid e-mail address (you can also register through Facebook to save time). The website then asks for measurements and prompts me to pick my body shape from pictures. Umm…I have to admit that I contemplate lying here to convince myself I have some kind of Kelly Brook figure but that isn’t how we play the game. Plus, it’d only serve to give me bad results later so I answer honestly and make a note to battle my demons later.
Next is the most important step. You are asked to select a shop and fill in your dress size. Most stylists websites will only ask you for one overall size. Well we all know that shops don’t exactly work like that. Dressipi.com is refreshing because it asks you to select sizes for trousers, dresses, tops, and jeans and you can select different brands if you’d like to, that way you can actually get an accurate measurement.
The next few questions are my favourites. You are given pictures of a variety of different celebrities including Victoria Beckham, Kate Middleton, and Rihanna, to name just a few. There is such a wide range of styles available that you can’t really go wrong. Just think about your wardrobe and what you feel most comfortable wearing. After that you asked a few personal questions about your fashion choices. It seems like a long process but in reality it only actually takes a couple of seconds to zoom through before you are taken to your results page. According to dressipi.com I like to be feminine, contemporary, polished, and stylishly understated when I dress – spot on! Next to the results are a selection of clothes that make me drool…
Now I’m on to the real fun – the home page! The first thing I see is a message complimenting my figure,
“You have got highly desirable curves galore and in all the right places…You were born with the shape women want.”
Dressipi.com, you just made my day.
Underneath is advice about styles that will suit me and which to avoid. Next season I shall be avoiding dropped waists like the plague…
The most important section is calling me though…’Perfect for you’. This area shows you images of items which may suit you and asks you to rate whether you like them or not. If you don’t then just click ‘dislike’ and it’ll be replaced with something else.
ASOS cross front tulip dress. Already own it. ‘Like’. Ted Baker women’s belted coat in ivory. Oooh ‘Like’. After a few minutes I realise that this could hurt my bank balance. A lot.
I have only one ‘dislike’. A floral dress which just wouldn’t suit my colouring. Easily fixed by answering a couple more questions and voila! The dress has been replaced by a beautiful emerald green maxi instead.
If you do see an item that you want to purchase then just click the ‘Buy’ button next to the picture and it’ll take you right to the retailer’s web page. Easy peasy.
I’ve been using this service for a couple of days now and I’m completely in love with it. There are several stylist websites out there already but none seem to be anywhere near as accurate as Dressipi.com. In two days I have only pressed ‘dislike’ once.
This service is so easy to use and really does reduce the time it takes to choose an outfit. Every day different recommendations are made – just be careful. My savings are slowly draining by the hour. Dressipi.com I can see that you are going to be trouble…
