The collection has been launched at H&M’s London Regent Street store this morning with hundreds of people turning up hoping to be amongst the first to buy items from the exclusive collection. Shoppers camped outside the store overnight, desperate to score the coveted wristbands that allowed access to the store. (Very pretty wristbands they were too; brightly coloured with a purely Versace geometric pattern) Those that did have a wristband were allowed to enter the store at their allotted time, choose and purchase their items before being kicked out when their time ran out.
The designer herself, Donatella Versace, even put in an appearance, walking the pink carpet in a pink form fitting mini-dress from the range and black leather studded trench coat to launch the collection at 9am. Whilst at the store she told Vogue UK about her awe,
“It’s so exciting. We drove around this morning and saw all the people who have been waiting. It’s incredible.”
It wasn’t just the Regent Street store that was experiencing the Versace effect – stores around the country were inundated with customers and the H&M website crashed several times as the servers struggled to cope with the number of people trying to buy from home or work. #Versace even became a Top Trending Topic on Twitter as people logged on to express their delight at having purchased an item or their disappointment at not being able to get anything.
So today I’ll be trying to dress my bump in baby’s first Versace (for H&M)!
Will you be buying anything from the collection?
