On Wednesday night whilst returning from a concert in Birmingham the One Direction boys were involved in what they have described as a ‘terrifying’ car accident – but don’t worry 1D fans, after medical assessments yesterday the boys have have announced that they are fine apart from a bit of whiplash.
The accident happened as they were travelling in their Mercedes people carrier along with their two tour managers who also escaped with minor injuries. According to The Sun newspaper a female driver (no jokes about women drivers here please male readers!) struck them from behind whilst travelling at 30 mph.
The police and emergency services were called and the passengers were treated by paramedics before being allowed to continue their journey.
Singer Niall Horan tweeted some reassurance for his fans from his official account a few hours ago, playing down the accident,
“Guys, thanks for all you messages. We were involved in a really minor accident – we are all absolutely fine!”
Despite having whiplash the boys soldiered on with their planned concert in Plymouth last night and plan on performing tonight too.
A source close to the band told The Sun,
“They came close to cancelling because of the crash but the boys didn’t want to let down their avid fans. As soon as they got the all-clear they decided to go ahead with the gig. It’s lucky dancing in their live shows is kept to a minimum so it did not put extra stress on their bodies.”
Good for you boys!
I have to ask though, is anybody else wondering whether there is a mortified mother of a pre-teen girl somewhere right now? Not sure I’d want to be in that house today…
